May 26, 2016 – The law firm “Spilios Spiliopoulos & Associates” is handling and coordinating the enforcement of a foreign court decision on the custody of a minor child in Greece, based on the specific Community Regulation (EC) 2201/2003 on international jurisdiction, recognition, and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility (Brussels IIa).
This European Regulation establishes rules determining which court has jurisdiction to hear matrimonial disputes and disputes concerning parental responsibility in cases involving more than one country, rules for the easier recognition and enforcement of judgments given by a court in one European Union country in another European Union country, and rules governing the procedure required for the settlement of cases in which a parent abducts a child from one EU country to another.
